Totenreich can turn a good Zombies run sour in about ten seconds. You’re cruising, packed gun in hand, then an elite wanders in with splash damage and your armor just vanishes. Cursed Mode makes it worse, because there’s not much room for sloppy movement once the rounds climb. Some players warm up in CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies before taking the map seriously, but even then, round 40 can feel like a trap if your setup isn’t right. The latest trick people are passing around is less about perfect aim and more about abusing how the map, relics, and armor repair all stack together.
Why the setup works so well
The core of it is the Lilly Relic. Since its buff, it’s become way more than a cute survival pick. Bullet damage feeds health back to you, and when you’re mowing down packed groups, that healing keeps rolling. Add Tier IV Frenzied Guard and things get silly. The field upgrade pulls the whole horde onto you, which sounds like a death wish, but every kill patches your armor back up. So your health is being topped by the relic, your armor is being restored by the field upgrade, and the zombies are basically walking into a shredder. As long as your gun keeps firing, the loop doesn’t really break.
Getting there without wasting the run
The early game matters more than people think. Don’t rush doors just because you’ve got essence burning a hole in your pocket. Stay in spawn through the first few rounds and let the zombies come all the way through the barriers. Melee kills are still worth squeezing out, especially while it’s safe. By the time you’re around 6,000 essence, open the east route toward the Courtyard and leave the upper balcony alone. That little skip seems to delay some nasty spawn behaviour, which means fewer armored headaches before your build is ready. From there, head for the Arsenal Room and hit the Mystery Box until you land something with a deep mag. An LMG is ideal, but a fast SMG like the Tanto.22 can do the job if your ammo discipline is decent.
The staircase spot everyone is using
Once you’ve got the relic, the gun, and Frenzied Guard upgraded, move to the Lower Cathedral Staircase. This is the part that feels almost wrong. Stand a few steps above the bottom landing and lean into the right side. Not too far up. Not out in the open. The pathing starts to choke there, and the horde funnels straight at you instead of spreading around. They don’t flank cleanly, and the drops from above stop being a real problem. Pop Frenzied Guard when the pack thickens, then keep your shots going through the line. Piercing damage helps a lot here, because each bullet can feed the relic more than once.
What to watch before it gets patched
This isn’t a classy strategy, but it works. Bring ammo mods that help with crowd control, don’t reload at the worst possible moment, and keep an eye on bosses that can still force movement if you get lazy. If you’re trying to practise the route or just want an easier place to test guns, some players choose to buy CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies before jumping back into real high-round attempts. The staircase method probably won’t stay untouched forever, so if you care about weapon XP, calling cards, or just seeing how far Totenreich can be pushed, now’s the time to mess with it.
