Night Range DLC Deep Dive: New Characters, Bosses, and Strategies

Posted on December 3, 2025

The latest Night Range DLC has finally started revealing its secrets, and there’s a lot for players to unpack. Over the past few weeks, trailers and showcases have highlighted everything from new characters to treacherous points of interest. I’ve spent some time analyzing the available information, and here’s a breakdown of what to expect and how to approach the content strategically.

New Playable Characters: Undertaker and Scholar

Two major additions in this DLC are the Undertaker and the Scholar.

Undertaker is a powerhouse with a focus on hammers, excelling in strength and faith. Her skill, Trance, grants her incredible mobility and increased combo power without consuming stamina—a real game-changer in fast-paced encounters. Her ultimate, Loathome Hex, lets her slingshot toward enemies or downed allies, dealing massive damage. However, it’s important to note that misjudging the distance can waste the ability, so positioning is key. Her passive, Confluence, allows additional art activations when allies execute their skills, which can chain attacks together for devastating results. In my experience, pairing her with teammates who coordinate skill timing can make her almost unstoppable in both PvE and PvP situations.

On the other hand, Scholar is a consumable-focused character with an S rating in arcane. His passive, Bad Craft, enhances item effectiveness and speeds up consumable leveling. His skill, Analyze, is a versatile support tool that can debuff enemies or buff allies depending on how long you target them. This makes him incredibly useful for controlling the battlefield or dealing with multiple enemies simultaneously. If you’re looking to optimize your run, keeping track of consumable usage and leveraging his buffs will pay off handsomely. For players who want to maximize progression, this is where strategic resource management comes into play—and you might even consider ways to buy Elden Ring runes to level up your favorite items faster if you’re pressed for time.

New Bosses and Enemies

The DLC introduces a host of new bosses and field enemies. Highlights include Demon and Pain, Cursed Blade in tandem with the Divine Beast Dancing Line, and Mog, Lord of Blood. There are also several minor enemies like Mesmer Soldiers, Bloodfi, and Birdman, as well as abominations like the Balancers. These new adversaries vary in difficulty, but one tip is to approach the Balancers in small groups first—they are individually weak but can respawn collectively, making them tricky if you don’t manage your attacks carefully.

Another point of interest is that some bosses and enemies reward players with runes upon defeat. If you’re looking to accelerate character progression, there are platforms like U4GM where you can find cheap Elden Ring runes for sale, giving you a leg up on gearing and skill upgrades. While this isn’t necessary for everyone, it can save time if you’re eager to tackle endgame content.

Fresh Events and Points of Interest

The DLC isn’t just about enemies—new events and locations significantly expand exploration. For instance:

  • Swamps: These areas feature status effects like frenzy, poison, or sleep. They’re layered within the original map and culminate in boss encounters.
  • Forges: One of my personal favorites, these towns let you chain weapon skills in a forge interface, similar to upgrading at an anvil. It’s a great place to experiment with different combinations and unlock new attack potentials.
  • Shifting Earth: This new selectable map emphasizes verticality and precarious platforming. The thick ash layers, crystal formations, and crystal curses create both environmental hazards and puzzle-like challenges. Clearing crystals carefully can prevent half-health penalties and make traversing the area much smoother.

Events like Caliggo and Gladius add variety as well, introducing dynamic red zones and large-scale encounters that reward attentive play. Timing your attacks, watching environmental hazards, and coordinating with teammates will be key to overcoming these challenges.

Abominations and Strategic Tips

Among the most unique enemies are the seven Balancers. While they may seem easy to pick off one at a time, defeating multiple awakens a leader that can perform long-range attacks across the map. My advice: target them systematically, avoid clustering, and use ranged attacks when possible. For team fights, combining Scholar’s ultimate with coordinated skill usage from Undertaker or other allies can neutralize these threats efficiently.

One small tip: always scout your surroundings in the Shifting Earth zones. Errant jumps or poorly timed sprints can be deadly, and environmental hazards like crystal curses will halve your HP if you’re not prepared. Items that grant immunity to these effects are worth prioritizing in your inventory management.

The Night Range DLC introduces a wealth of new content, from versatile characters like Undertaker and Scholar to treacherous bosses, events, and exploration zones. Strategic use of character skills, consumable management, and environmental awareness is crucial to maximizing success. Whether you’re a solo player or coordinating with friends, there are plenty of opportunities to refine tactics and tackle challenges more efficiently. For players looking to speed up progression, considering ways to buy Elden Ring runes or access cheap Elden Ring runes for sale through platforms like U4GM can provide an extra boost without undermining the gameplay experience.
